Payment channel — PayPal and PayPal.Me

PES does not take, hold or pass on class fees. Students pay each class fee straight to the tutor’s PayPal.Me. PayPal is the only payment method.

PES charges students and tutors no fees or service charges.

What is PayPal.Me?

PayPal.Me is a personal payment link made from a PayPal account, such as paypal.me/yourname. Anyone who opens the link can pay that person on PayPal.

For every class, PES makes a link with that class’s fee already filled in — for a US$25 class the link is paypal.me/tutorjin/25USD. A link is always for one class; there are no bundle payments for several classes.

Students — how to pay

  1. Press an available time in the tutor’s schedule. A booking window opens right there with the time, the price and who you pay.
  2. Reserve and pay: Opening PayPal does not mark the booking paid. Submit your transaction ID after paying; the tutor confirms the payment.
  3. Class fees are paid as goods and services. You can report a tutor who asks you to pay as friends and family.
  4. Write your booking number in the PayPal payment note.
  5. PayPal.Me does not tell PES whether payment was completed. Check your payment on PayPal, then submit its transaction ID and wait for the tutor’s confirmation.

Pay and submit the transaction ID and payment proof within 30 minutes of booking. If still unpaid and Pending after this deadline, the tutor can cancel. Unpaid classes must be cancelled by 10 minutes before class.

Booking information: My bookings

Tutors — registering PayPal.Me

  1. Log in to your personal PayPal account and create your PayPal.Me link (paypal.me/yourname).
  2. Register the link as your payment channel on the Tutor page. Register my PayPal.Me
  3. You take bookings when your profile score is 80 or more and your payment channel is registered.
  4. Take class fees as PayPal goods and services payments, not as friends and family transfers. Asking a student to pay as friends and family is a reason for a report.
  5. Check the submitted transaction ID and payment in your PayPal account, then select Payment received and confirm. The booking becomes Paid and the transaction ID is locked.

If a class is still not paid 10 minutes before it starts, you must cancel it. This cancellation has no reputation deduction. A class you teach without payment is a free class — you cannot ask the student to pay later.

If you cancel or miss a paid class, refund the whole fee through PayPal. PES does not make refunds.

If you change your payment channel, every student who has booked your classes is told.

Good to know

  • If something goes wrong, you can open a dispute under PayPal’s rules.
  • PES does not guarantee payments or refunds between members. Payment disputes can be filed under PayPal’s rules.
  • Some pairs cannot pay each other on PayPal: PayPal accounts in Korea can only pay accounts outside Korea, payments within India are blocked, and PayPal accounts cannot be opened in Pakistan. PES still has no other payment method.
